Driving from Hafnarfjordur to Fagradalsfjall takes around 40 minutes. This is the newest volcano in Iceland and has black lava to see and enjoy. There is a parking space close by and you need to walk from the parking to the volcano. The path is very well marked and easy to spot.

If the volcano is still erupting, then we recommend checking it out. I'd not recommend taking small children, as they are closer to the ground where the toxic fumes are more prominent and could be dangerous. The hike is moderate, so be well equipped, good shoes and clothing. Check out site VisitIceland dot com and find relevant information regarding the hike.

An hours drive will take you to the starting point of the hike to Fagradalsfjall Volcano. This is something you have to visit if you have the time. A once in a lifetime experience!
