Pho is only as good as its broth and I think. Pho Tau Bay has some of the best broth in the city. Recently reopened in the city after a long hiatus post Katrina, they have an extensive selection of Pho and other Vietnamese food items. Not expensive, quick to eat, friendly staff, nice enviroment, funky location near the new medical center district.

The original was on the West Bank and it was my intro to Vietnamese food at the turn of the last century. Original owners moved to this side of the river to make way for a Kmart parking lot.over in Gretna . Always a good bet, it closes reasonably early. It is likely the closest place for pho to the apt.

Vietnamese food is a must in New Orleans...there was a mass migration of Vietnamese people around the 80s to NOLA. Amazing, traditional food.

Pho Tau Bay is a fantastic lunch destination if you find yourself in the downtown New Orleans area. A favorite with locals during their lunch breaks, it's a reliable spot when you're craving Vietnamese eats (pho, banh mi, etc).
