The Roasterie and Minglement: A True Island Gem
This old general store building, which has been a gathering spot for more than a century, is now not only home to a coffee roasterie but also expansive organic local grocery and gift store. There's even a first edition bookstore tucked up in the eaves with quiet corners to enjoy exploring. Minglement has a large plant-based pharmacopia and the largest selection of bulk honeys have ever seen.

Best place to take your dog to run free. Best place to let your Littles wade into the water at the inlet by the bridge. KVI beach- named after the radio station that owns the tower at the far end of the beach) is a very special place on the island. It is home of the only brackish water estuary which means water which combines the fresh and the salt. There are unique plants and animals that thrive in this small oasis. there are no bathroom facilities there so keep that in mind. it is a short 10 minute drive from the center of Vashon town.

Hiking
Wonderful hiking opportunities. there are several trailheads. The trails are relatively steep but the trailhead with the parking lot is the most accessible for those with mobility issues. The views are amazing particularly if Mount Rainier isn't playing hide and go seek in the clouds. You will have an unobstructed view. there is simple sanitary facilities halfway down and one near a trailhead closer to the viewpoint. Look at a Vashon Parks and recreation map for details

Some of the very best Thai food in the region. Folks take a ferry boat over just to dine at May. May herself went back to Thailand and dismantled an entire teak building, shipped it to Vashon Island and restructured it to create her restaurant. It is amazing. Highly recommended for date night or pleasing your hard to please guests. The cocktail bar is excellent and a great place to sit in the center of it all.

so when you run out of outdoor activities, this is a real sleeper surprise. we have one of the coolest thrift stores. everything on this island gets recycled. we have some fancy people that live behind some pretty fancy Gates and everybody brings they're no longer wants to Granny's. It supports our Island medical clinic and a domestic violence program among many other charitable ventures.
You can find some amazing treasures there. open Wednesday through Saturday.
