Sloping green lawns, happy people on blankets and towels, and an enormous spring fed pool that boasts clear, cold water year round. Note, Barton requires a $7 ticket March through October that you can purchase online or at the entrance.

Go and swim laps, get food or a drink at Pool Burger or Deep Eddy Cabaret before or after. If you’re not wanting to swim, just go for the food and/or the old school dive bar vibes.

My favorite Austin Restaurant just happens to be the hippest spot in town. Expect fabulous french food in a refined and bohemian setting surrounded by well dressed hipsters. Plan ahead to get a res, though walkups early and late in the evening have a decent chance of getting seated.
