The Rabbit Hole is the most highly recommended restaurant in Colorado Springs. They have a very unique menu and atmosphere. Entering the restaurant is like entering a subway since it is underground. I find that very cool! Most entrees are around $20 so this is a good place to go to if you want to go out for a nice meal but not break the bank. 15-20 minute walk from the house. 3-5 minute car ride.

It is located in Old Colorado City, which is about a 10 minute drive from the house. Really nice little downtown with shops and great restaurants. Old Colorado City was the original capital of Colorado and they actually have the original capitol building right next to the restaurant. I would say Old Colorado City and this restaurant would definitely be worth a quick Uber trip.

This is a new favorite of mine. I’m a big fan of deli sandwiches and this place has a pastrami reuben that competes with Katz’s Deli in New York City, which is considered the best deli in the country. The sandwich is around $16 but it could feed two. It’s in downtown Colorado Springs. Great lunch place!

Old Colorado City is a hidden gem. I’ve talked to natives who have lived in Colorado their whole lives and they don’t even know about it. It’s about a half a mile long but contains some of the top restaurants in the area. There are also events there on the weekends, such as art fairs and music festivals.

Manitou downtown is larger but more touristy so if you’re looking for a better meal I would go to Old Colorado City. However, I would consider downtown Manitou a must-visit. It is my favorite city in Colorado. I love the proximity to the mountains and there are a lot of neat souvenir shops. There’s also a penny arcade that has vintage games.

I like doing this hike in the winter because there isn’t a lot of shade, which means you stay warm throughout most of the trail and there aren’t many icy areas.

This is a fun activity if you’re sore from hiking and just want to relax and enjoy the scenery. There’s an entrance fee ($15 per person) that includes a shuttle ride to the top of Pikes Peak. A car is needed because the shuttle begins about halfway up. They used to have a train that left from Manitou Springs but it is being repaired. On top of Pikes Peak there’s a gift shop and a donuts shop. They are actually building a new visitors/education center but it won’t be done until summer 2020. I would make sure you’re hydrated and have eaten before going. The summit is over 14,000 feet so it’s very easy to get light headed due to the lower oxygen levels.

The catch is, microspikes are almost necessary in the winter months. The hike can be done without microspikes but there are a lot of icy areas where you’ll have to be careful and move slowly.

The InclineThis is the toughest hike I’ve ever done. The incline gains 2000 ft in less than 1 mile. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re in the mood for strenuous activity. With that being said, it’s super rewarding when you finish and you can buy shirts in Manitou saying that you survived the The Incline.
I’m really impressed by this museum. For it being a free museum, it’s a decent size and there are a lot of high quality exhibits. The museum is about the history of the Pikes Peak region but I still think people who are from outside of the region would find it interesting. Just the decor alone is worth the visit. It’s free and it’s close to the house so it’s a good way to spend an hour or two, especially if you’re experiencing bad weather and are looking for an indoor activity.

Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum
215 S Tejon StI’m really impressed by this museum. For it being a free museum, it’s a decent size and there are a lot of high quality exhibits. The museum is about the history of the Pikes Peak region but I still think people who are from outside of the region would find it interesting. Just the decor alone is worth the visit. It’s free and it’s close to the house so it’s a good way to spend an hour or two, especially if you’re experiencing bad weather and are looking for an indoor activity.
