Fair Oaks Farms has developed much over the years into quite a hotspot for locals and tourists alike. The Farmhouse Restaurant is a good place to stop for dinner that’s not too far away from the Wooden Shoe Cottage. Especially if you are there for some of their attractions, it is a convenient place to stop with a nice porch to have a drink on. However, please be aware of long wait times for a table – since it is out in the country, the next closest options for dinner would be 30 minutes driving to Rensselaer or back in DeMotte. Reservations never hurt at the Farmhouse.

This restaurant is a longstanding local favorite that is situated on Cedar Lake. It has changed management in the last couple of years, so I can’t vouch that it is what it used to be, but the view more than makes up for it and they have excellent cocktails.

This is a more recent addition to Rensselaer, which is a sleepy town south of DeMotte. It's supposed to be good, but I haven’t been myself.

DeMotte is the town that the cottage is in. It's a small town in the countryside that is quiet and rural. We have basic shops and a nice golf course called Sandy Pines nearby, as well as Fair Oaks Farms and Carpenter Creek Winery further south.
