Local vegetarian Indian restaurant. This place must have been here forever, it's not romantic fine dining but does have a certain atmosphere. The food is fresh, tasty and cheap and you can bring your own alcohol.

Stoke Newington Church Street is full of independent shops, bars, pubs and restaurants. It is always busy at the weekend, but a certainly a good place to have a late breakfast and people watch. Clissold Park is a lovely place for a picnic.

The towpath will take you through the famous Camden Markets, Primrose Hill, London Zoo and Regents Park. There's a small boating lake, free tennis courts, basketball, volleyball, table tennis and skate park. The cafe isn't great for main meals, but fine for a snack.

Our favourite Sunday stroll is alongside the little-known River Lea. Start in Marksfield Park and walk east as far as the Olympic Park in Stratford.
