Niharika, The Old Place

NOTE: UNLIKE SIKKIM, KALIMPONG IS ACCESSIBLE FROM SILIGURI AND DARJEELING BY 3 ROUTES. MESSAGE US FOR DETAILS. She's a grand old lady, restored with care: her stairs creak, her doors don't quite close, her floors have the patina of a hundred years. Outside, the wind rises and the tall trees sway like drunks going home. To the north, the Himalayas beckon as the fireplace warms cold fingers after a walk to the monastery up the hill. USA & UK consulates are 8 mins walk New Market is 10 mins by cab Quest Mall / Forum Mall are 15 mins by cab. Airport is 45 mins by cab and costs Inr 450 Howrah station is 30 mins . Most convenient for going anywhere in the city. We have no power back up. Power outage is rare.

EDEN by REVOLVER is a riverside homestay on a two-acre+ plot alongside the river Relli ~ a kilometre away from Relli Bazar and a 30-minute-drive from Kalimpong town. The tariff quoted is per head and includes dinner and breakfast. Lunch and snacks, if required, can be ordered and will be charged extra. For infants and children below 5, board will not be charged. Early check-in possible. As of now, we do not have any accommodation for drivers that come along. However, we are working on it.

Panorama. A Heritage Bungalow

‘Panorama’ where the last King of Burma’s second daughter spent an idyllic life in exile from 1947 onwards. She lived here with her husband till April 4, 1956. It is a beautiful property with a 180 degree view of the Himalayan range during the months when there is no haze. One can also see the western part of Kalimpong town. It's an almost 100 years old bungalow built during the British Raj. It is well maintained with polished floorboards and red oxide floors and fire places.

‘Moksh’ a home on the bank of river Hooghly.

It is called the river home because my house is right on the bank of the river. Its my home and the river, nothing in-between. A perfect place to cleanse and unwind. The home has a mandir. Along with the flower garden, there is a kitchen garden and we grow seasonal vegetables. Soft archery, carrom., dart board available. The place has a hammock and fishing rod for angling. The river and the sky has its own beauty. Looks spectacular in different seasons. A perfect retreat.
