Casa de Mini · the house two women made

This house was made by two women who never met. My husband's mother, Mini, imagined it and set its shape around light, then passed before choosing a colour. The colour and the life are mine: I made it modern and happy, yellow with sky blue windows, every room its own colour. A friend painted her in the garage, a faceless silhouette ringed by the tree she planted and the yellow-bellied bird it draws. The garden fills with the birds she loved, the koel she would call to until it called back.
