Surely the highest cottage, at 1200m altitude, in the Cederberg with spectacular views of the Koue Bokkeveld and the Cederberg. It is set against a mountain peak surrounded by pristine Cape flora. A place of retreat and deep silence. The cottage, with its beautiful woodwork and stonework, belongs to another era. Recently it was renovated with a larger kitchen and a braai room as shelter from summer southerly winds and to catch sun on winter afternoons. A private rock pool is 150m from the stoep

Off-the-grid stone cottage in the Little Karoo

Off grid cottage set in the heart of the Little Karoo within the Touwsberg Nature and Game Reserve. The reserve is well known for it's biodiverse fauna and flora and stunning scenery. Located off Route 62, midway between Barrydale and Ladismith, accessible with an average car/sedan, that has at least 17cm off ground clearance. The Cottage is well equipped, with indoor fireplace, cosy and completely private - the perfect Winter stay. Note: cell/3G reception requires a 2 minute walk; no wifi.

This is one of Cape Town's environmental and historic treasures. It is a candle-lit hideaway with stunning views of mountain and sea. The Cottage is completely off grid, with fresh water coming off the mountain and energy from the sun. The cottage is built from local materials - stone walls, reed ceilings, blue gum supports. There are glass doors and windows throughout the cottage. The cottage has a beautiful open-plan bedroom and bathroom. The bathroom includes a tub, a toilet and a basin.

Located in the Hoedspruit Wildlife Estate, it has the attraction of being close to the restaurants and shops of Hoedspruit whilst providing access to the Greater Kruger & the Blyde River Canyon. Situated on a small holding 5km outside Franschhoek, opposite the exquisite La Motte Wine Estate, Heidi’s Barn offers the perfect self-catering base from which to explore the Winelands. A fire pit, outdoor dining area and a large swimming pool (shared with one other cottage) are perfect for summertime relaxation while an indoor wood-burning fireplace and wooden floors throughout make for a cosy winter escape.
