This home is a spacious converted barn with 2 bedrooms, and kitchen/family room, studio, loft and one bathroom. It is set in the woods just a few miles from Lake Superior. Being off the shore of Lake Superior has it's advantages--it is quieter and at night so dark that if it is clear you can reach out and touch the millions of stars in the sky. The grounds are ample with a large covered patio and fire ring. Reservations less than 2 day prior please message us we will do our best to accommodate.

The Lena Dome (5 min to Grand Marais)

Reconnect with nature at this unforgettable escape. Directly on the Pincushion Trail System (which links to the Superior Hiking Trail) you'll find endless hiking options right outside your door. The Lena dome is 5 minutes from downtown Grand Marais where you can eat at amazing restaurants, hear great live music, enjoy time by Lake Superior, and explore beautifully curated local shops. Lena has electricity, but no heat or cooking supplies, so plan for an elevated camping experience. READ BELOW

Riverwood Hideaway

This off-grid, solar powered hideaway is on the Knife River just a few miles outside of Two Harbors, Minnesota. The cabin itself is loaded with comfort. A full kitchen, propane refrigerator, solar powered lights and a gas fireplace/furnace offer the conveniences of home. There is an outhouse and firewood for the outdoor firepit. You will have to bring your own water for drinking, but we provide hand and dish washing water at the sink. We have coffee with pour over utensils, dishes, spices.

Adventures by day: hike, fish or day trip to Grand Marais! The bike trail puts much in reach, jog to Gooseberry, bike to Split Rock, or stroll to Thompson Beach. In the evening the full kitchen is a dream for a foodie, or head fifteen minutes to a brewery. Before bed put up your feet, play a game, read a book, or doze by the fireplace’s heat.

An update: we’ve made a decision to sell this beloved cabin & move closer to our grandkids. September of 2026 is the last month to reserve. Classic, Vintage Log Cabin on 2.5 acres right on Lake Superior - a cozy step back in time! 250 ft. of bedrock shoreline. 3 Bedrooms: 2 Queen, 1 Dbl. 3/4 bath, kitchen, and indoor fireplace. Outdoors: both gas & charcoal grills, firepit, firewood, a swing & picnic table. The nightly fee is for 2 adults. There's a $10 fee/night/each additional guest.

Swan Forest Loft is ideal to explore the North Shore of Lake Superior with its 7 state parks. We are located 4 miles from Gooseberry Falls State Park with the start of the Gitchi Gami bicycle trail and 2 miles from a Superior Hiking Trail head. Walk up 15 stairs to a comfortable, spacious 2 bedroom apartment with balcony. It feels like a tree house with modern amenities. The kitchen has a two-burner ceramic stove top, microwave with oven, toaster, hot water kettle, fridge and coffee maker.

During your stay, hike through the property, catch glimpses of wildlife, sip coffee by the fire while taking in the sunrise over the lake, or step out to nearby Gooseberry, Black Beach, or Tettegouche. Treat yourself to a deluxe stay in this quiet, newly constructed cabin with picture windows, screened porch and barrel sauna. Enjoy long days and sunsets at Corny Beach, a 10 min walk from the cabin along a nature trail. Visit Bayfield 20 min away or take in the quirky, small-town of Cornucopia and then come home and take a sauna in this peaceful forest! The cabin has an occupancy limit of 2 adults and one dog ($50 pet fee). A SUP board is stored near the beach for guests in summer.
