Welcome to our spacious three-bedroom family home in Vesturbær, one of Reykjavík’s most charming, established and genuinely enjoyable neighbourhoods. The apartment comfortably accommodates up to eight guests and offers a rare combination of space, character, comfort and location — particularly for anyone travelling to Iceland to experience the total solar eclipse on August 12, 2026. This is an opportunity to witness one of nature’s most extraordinary events while staying in a real Reykjavík home, close to the sea, the city centre and the everyday life of one of the city’s best neighbourhoods. Rather than returning to an anonymous hotel room after exploring Reykjavík, you will have a generous living space, a properly equipped kitchen, room for the whole group and everything needed to settle in and feel at home. The apartment is ideal for families, groups of friends, several couples travelling together or small creative and production teams. It has three separate bedrooms, flexible additional sleeping arrangements and space for up to eight guests in total. There is one shared bathroom, so the apartment is best suited to groups who are comfortable sharing facilities. This is our actual family home rather than a purpose-built rental apartment. It has books, music, artwork, comfortable furniture and the small details that make a home feel lived in. We hope guests will enjoy it as a warm and relaxed base from which to experience Reykjavík, rather than simply as a place to sleep. The main living room is bright, spacious and comfortable, with enough room for the whole group to relax together after a day exploring the city or travelling around Iceland. Guests have access to Apple TV, a PlayStation 5 and a professional Genelec monitoring system. Whether you want to watch a film, stream a series, play games or listen properly to music, the setup is considerably better than the average holiday-rental television and soundbar. The living room is equally suited to quiet mornings, family evenings, planning the next day’s adventures or sitting down with a drink while discussing whether the Icelandic weather is dramatic, ridiculous or both. We are enthusiastic home cooks and genuine foodies, so the kitchen is not equipped like a typical short-term rental with one blunt knife, a tiny frying pan and three mismatched glasses. This is a proper working kitchen that we use ourselves. It includes a good selection of cookware, knives, utensils, dishes, glassware and the everyday equipment needed to prepare real meals. A large Weber bbq and a wood fired pizza oven is on the balcony. Guests can make anything from a quick breakfast to a full dinner for the entire group. For families, larger groups and longer stays, having a well-equipped kitchen can make a significant difference. Reykjavík has an excellent restaurant scene, but eating every meal out can become expensive. The apartment gives you the flexibility to cook at home, explore Icelandic ingredients and still visit the restaurants, bakeries and cafés that interest you most. Vesturbær is an excellent neighbourhood for food lovers. There are cafés, bakeries, grocery shops and restaurants nearby, while the old harbour and central Reykjavík are within easy reach. We are also happy to share honest recommendations for good coffee, seafood, bakeries, casual dining, fine dining and places that locals actually enjoy. Vesturbær is one of Reykjavík’s most popular residential neighbourhoods. It is peaceful and relaxed, but still close enough to the city centre that many of Reykjavík’s main attractions can be reached on foot. The neighbourhood has coastal walking routes, playgrounds, cafés, bakeries, shops, sports facilities and a strong local atmosphere. It feels like a real part of Reykjavík rather than a tourist district, while still offering easy access to the old harbour, downtown restaurants, museums, nightlife and cultural attractions. It is the sort of neighbourhood where you can walk by the sea in the morning, stop for coffee, head into the city centre and return home without ever feeling that you are staying in the busiest part of town. ## Vesturbæjarlaug — an absolute legend One of the greatest advantages of staying in Vesturbær is being close to Vesturbæjarlaug. Vesturbæjarlaug is not simply a public swimming pool. It is a Reykjavík institution, a neighbourhood meeting place and, quite honestly, a legend. A visit to Vesturbæjarlaug offers something that many tourist attractions cannot: the chance to briefly experience Reykjavík as locals do. Missing it would be a genuine mistake. For guests working in music, film, television, advertising, podcasting, voice recording or audio post-production, access to a fully equipped professional sound studio may also be arranged separately. The studio is located only a four-minute walk from the apartment and includes professional Dynaudio 7.1 monitoring and a complete audio-production setup. It can be useful for musicians, filmmakers, producers, journalists, voice artists or production teams who need a reliable professional workspace while visiting Iceland. Studio access is not included in the accommodation price and must be arranged separately in advance, according to availability and the requirements of the project. ## Toyota Land Cruiser available separately Subject to availability, it may also be possible to arrange separate rental of our Toyota Land Cruiser. For suitable guests, this provides the option of combining a comfortable base in Reykjavík with a spacious and capable vehicle for exploring farther beyond the city. It may be particularly useful for carrying luggage, travelling with a larger group or taking day trips around Iceland. The Land Cruiser is not included in the apartment booking or accommodation price. Any rental must be agreed separately in advance and is subject to availability, driver eligibility, licence requirements, insurance arrangements and agreed terms of use. The vehicle must always be driven according to Icelandic law, current weather conditions and road closures. Off-road driving is strictly prohibited in Iceland. ## Important information about our dog Please note that this is our family home and we have a dog. The apartment will be thoroughly cleaned before guests arrive, but it cannot be guaranteed to be free of dog hair or allergens. It is therefore not suitable for guests with dog allergies or a strong sensitivity to pet hair. Guests with significant animal allergies should choose alternative accommodation. We prefer to be completely clear about this before booking so that everyone can make the right decision for their health and comfort. Dog lovers may be pleased to know that the apartment has also been thoroughly inspected and approved by a Golden retriever. ## A memorable Reykjavík base Whether you are visiting Reykjavík for the total solar eclipse on August 12, 2026, planning a family holiday, travelling with friends or working on a creative project, our apartment offers space, comfort and a genuine neighbourhood experience. You will have three bedrooms, room for up to eight guests, a properly equipped foodie kitchen, Apple TV, PlayStation 5, Genelec monitoring and the possibility of arranging access to both a professional sound studio and a Toyota Land Cruiser separately. Most importantly, you will be staying in Vesturbær — close to the sea, close to central Reykjavík and close to the legendary Vesturbæjarlaug.

Grocery store across the street open around the clock and one of the best pools in Iceland up the street as well as a great area for seeing the northern lights at Grótta. The apt is located 2 min walk from the ocean and the bus stops right outside to take you downtown. Free parking on premises.
