Macarty House is conveniently located just minutes from the French Quarter. This historic mansion was built on the former grounds of the Macarty Plantation. Through the years and many owners, the main house has a eccentric but charming feel. The backyard is an oasis where you will find a covered bar with seating, a pool, and a large deck. Monday-Friday 8-5 we're not a quiet corner but on any night it’s relaxing, providing a restful night. Our neighbor, Race & Religious, hosts weddings with live music but never past 11PM. High ceilings with intricate plaster detail are featured in an antebellum mansion home built in 1851 which sits right in front of the streetcar/trolley stop. A great experience to be right there on "the Avenue" under the 250 year old oak trees. You can take our self guided walking tour through the Garden District and see one home after another built in 1800's, with names of architect (if known), year built and who lived there.
