Áskot Cottages offer self-catering vacation homes located on a Family run Horse Ranch in South Iceland. Háafell Lodge

Welcome to Háafell Farm where we raise sheep, keep horses and have one friendly dog. Our private guest house is located 200 meters above the farm, up the mountain at 130 meters above sea level. It is a recently built (2020), 100 square meter, modern “turf house style” house. Háafell means “The High Mountain” and has a long river that cascades down its side with several tiers of waterfalls. It is a five minute walk to our canyon and it is possible to take a cold bath in one of the waterfalls.

Wooden, warm house for six people. Perfectly integrated into the lava field at the foot of the extinct GRABROK volcano, which you can enter almost straight from home :). Beautiful views and silence. Only the sounds of nature can be heard. An ideal place to observe the northern lights (no city lights). Just 300 meters from the main road No. 1. Fully equipped kitchen. Perfectly clean drinking water flows from the tap. The jacuzzi is already working :) There are bubbles and it's nice :) !!!

Gunnu Hús by Meðalfellsvatn ( Our lakeside cottage nestles at the foot of Medalfell mountain and the garden leads right down to the lake. The views are spectacular, of the lake and its surrounding mountain scape; it is a place of pure tranquility. It has 3 bedrooms and an open plan kitchen and sitting room. It has a large double bedroom, and small double bedroom and a room with a bunk bed. It is well known and often listed as one of the most scenic and lovely summer cottages in Iceland.

View the sunset over the lake or see the Aurora Borealis, when the conditions are right, from the deck wrapping around the house or even from the hot tub. The apartment is spacious and comfortable with everythink you might need for your stay. The apartment is located on a farm 7 km from Borgarnes and 80 km from Reykjavik. The farm is 1 km from road nr 1. The view from the apartment and the surrounding area is very beutyfull. We have horses, chickens and dogs on the farm. The horses are very friendly and love attention. This is a very good spot to view the northern lights from late august-april if the sky is clear we can usually see them.
