I am an Artist / Photographer born in Kyoto I started hosting because I love meeting people from all over the world and making new friends. This place used to be one big guesthouse, but during Covid19, I have stopped running the guesthouse and I moved in with my wife and 2 kids. Still I didn't want to give up so I left the good parts. Private cypress bath and renovated rooms and made another entrance for the Guests. So now it is 2 separate house Please check the house rules before you book.

Reikaku Yasaka | Gion | Historical Machiya

Reikaku Yasaka was a building in ruins with the floor tilted by at least 30cm when we discovered this hidden jewel. The restoration was particularly difficult due to the state it was in but our craftsman’s determination to bring this Machiya back to its formal glory paid off for Reikaku Yasaka. The result is Japanese craftsmanship at its best and we are very proud to be able to share the result with the rest of the world. Check our other house as an alternate option @ Reikaku Kiyomizu-Gojo

Machiya near Palace - A day in Khaki Muromachi (W)

As featured on the NYTimes T list, this property is a "Kyomachiya", a traditional Japanese home over 100 years old. It has been revamped from a "Nishijin-ori" (traditional Japanese textile) factory. It is located in the traditional Kamigyo Ward, minutes walk from the Imperial Palace. We collaborated with award winning architects at Ikken to renovate this space, which now accommodates the comforts of modern life, while retaining many of the original structure and elements from its past.

The house is located along Shiragawa river Sanjo Kyoto. One of the most attractive point is the open-air Shiragakiyaki Pottery bath. Shiragakiyaki is traditional craft, a type of stoneware pottery thriving from Muromachi Period. The kiln is one of the Six Ancient Kilns in Japan. The house has 3 bed rooms with total 9 beds and 3.5 bathrooms. There is a big table in the living room where total 10 people can have seat all together. The house is suitable for a big group. Outside of the house there is a small court yard where there is a wooden bench with the taste of Japanese garden.
