Craigiehall Temple (historic property built 1759)

Make you trip to Edinburgh truly memorable with a stay at Craigiehall Temple. Built in 1759 and situated in its own grounds on a former part of the Craigiehall Estate, it's Grade A listed for its stunning portico displaying the arms of the 1st Marquess of Annandale. A plaque on the wall carries a quote from Horace: "Dum Iicet in rebus jucundis vive beatus", "Live happy while you can among joyful things". We hope that a stay at the Temple will deliver this experience and stay true to this vision.

Our beautiful studio with spacious Hot Tub is close to Edinburgh Airport and only 5 miles from the West End. Perfect for enjoying all that Edinburgh offers, but with the peace and quiet of a rural location. Own transport is recommended but public transport is nearby so leaving the car and hopping a bus/tram into town is easy. Guests staying without own transport are likely best to rely on local taxi services of which there are several including UBER. Plenty countryside walking available also.

It borders Ratho Park Golf club (area of outstanding beauty), a walk from the heart of Ratho village, 8miles from Edinburgh centre. Rooms are stylishly furnished (with wifi), and proudly eco-friendly (ground source heated). The property has parking, doors to the courtyard, patio with views looking onto a beautiful fairway, and a path to the gardens, fire pit, ruins and historic canal.

Ideal base for exploring Edinburgh (20 minutes away by train) or visiting the beautiful Kingdom of Fife (Aberdour, Anstruther, St Andrews). The property has a private back garden in the shadow of the Forth Rail Bridge (now a UNESCO world heritage monument), and is situated down a quaint cobbled lane that is closed to traffic. Compact, warm, cosy house in a quiet residential area overlooking a small park. The house is simply and stylishly furnished. There is a small garden where you can enjoy eating out in warmer weather. In spring and summer the garden is filled with herbs and flowers. You'll usually find a few books in the hall and you're welcome to take any you like the look of. Easy access by rail and road to Edinburgh, Glasgow, and central and southern Scotland. 15 minutes drive to Edinburgh airport.
